“There is a strange boy seated in the last row.
He never smiles or laughs, and he barely talks – not even when talked to.

His straight, silky hair hangs down over his face, constantly covering his right eye.
He always has a serious, blank look. Not sad or angry, just serious. And sometimes annoyed.

I wonder what is it what he thinks about when he's looking through the window.
What are his interests, his fears, his favourite TV shows.

Is it someone he yearns for? Is it something that happened and is torturing him?
I want to talk to him, but why would he pay attention to someone like me?

You've never seen him before, but this is Nanashi, another of the main characters from Between two Worlds. The reason I don't draw him often is he isn't actually given much importance in the first book. He only appears once (when Deborah is stalking him at the schoolyard) as some kind of foreshadowing, but not much info is given about him.

Nanashi is the second Japanese character in my story after Yuki, but they are completely different. Nanashi is an asocial boy who has no friends at school, gets tolerable marks, and whose mentality is too advanced for today's society. He cares and is fairly educated about issues no one his age would usually even consider. For this reason, Deborah became interested in him, and the whole goup has a deep respect for him. In fact, Nanashi is the one who helps Deborah get over her "special snowflake" syndrome. However, he's too rude and ruthless to mentally weak people.

More traditional art from me! :la: This piece is from the same collection as this one, and it's always been one of my favourites! The outfit I designed for him is pretty cool, and I personally like the way he's displaying his powers. The tools used were the same from before (Staedtler pigment liner pens), and also lots of patience.

That cloak is rad! I love the design. Are you still working on your story and setting? It sounds like you put a lot of love and effort into it. I am intrigued :meow:
